History of BlueTiek.In Disco

BlueTiek-In was the place to be in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, during the 1980s. At that time, BlueTiek-In was revolutionary, featuring two moving dance floors, spectacular light shows, a kitchen serving hamburgers and sandwiches, payment with coins, and a capacity of nearly two thousand visitors.

The mega disco quickly became extremely popular. BlueTiek-In was open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There were live performances by artists, themed nights, and even recordings of TV programs.

A Legendary Venue

For in-house photographer John Mocnik, BlueTiek-In was practically a second home. He was often present on Wednesday evenings when the club was closed to the public but used for TV recordings. Staff and selected visitors helped fill the room during these sessions. From Thursday through Sunday, he was also present during regular opening nights.

Many world-famous artists performed at BlueTiek-In, including Sam & Dave, Dolly Dots, Star Sisters, The Trammps, Gloria Gaynor, Viola Wills, Centerfold, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross. The TV version of NCRV’s popular radio program Popsjop was recorded here, as well as regular Sky Channel recordings with presenters Pat Sharp and Amanda Redington.

BlueTiek-In was also the first discotheque of its kind to have its own clothing shop.

Tragic Moment

In March 1986, BlueTiek-In appeared in the news for tragic reasons. A visitor who had been refused entry returned later with a firearm and opened fire at the entrance. An 18-year-old visitor and a 21-year-old doorman were killed. The perpetrator was arrested the same night and later confessed.

In 1988, Beekman and Dikker sold the discotheque. Although the name BlueTiek-In remained for some time, attendance slowly declined. The venue was later renamed Network, then Carera, and eventually became the Baja Beach Club. Today, the building houses a parking garage.

BlueTiek.In Lives On

To this day, BlueTiek.In continues to live on through reunion parties, mostly held at Hall 4 in Rotterdam, bringing back the spirit and memories of the legendary disco.

Bringing BlueTiek.In into RLC

In 2016, DJ_Mirkofux and DJ_Brian, with the idea of DJ_Mario, started rebuilding BlueTiek.In inside RLC. The goal was to bring the original experience back to life in a virtual world.

The grand opening took place on July 29th, 2016, featuring DJs Bman and Marc (owners of Nostalgia), DJ_Mirkofux, Gerald_Benway, DJ_Brian, and DJ_Mario.

We aimed to keep everything as close as possible to the real-life BlueTiek-In, including a wide variety of themed parties. Events were held on Fridays at 3 PM EST and later also on Wednesdays at 2 PM EST.

To this day, we continue to produce parties in our own clubs and beyond. BlueTiek.In (BTI) has also gone on tour, hosting events at clubs and sponsor properties. We have provided entertainment for weddings, store openings, new clubs, and private events.
